Standards

No member site may sell prescription medications without a valid prescription issued by a licensed United States and/or Canadian physician.

All Member sites must require a valid prescription for all prescription medications. Canadian member sites are required to have a valid prescription for all medications even if a medication is deemed an OTC in Canada. An example would be Claritin. While a Canadian member site can legally dispense Claritin without a prescription in Canada, Canadian member sites agree to require a valid prescription from United States consumers.

Member sites which offer access to a pharmacy must offer access to a licensed pharmacist and/or Certified Pharmacy Technician(s).

Member sites must post a telephone number on their sites at all times.

Member sites must post a concise Frequently Asked Questions page.

Member sites must post all fees associated with the filling of a prescription medication. If a member site charges a physician review fee and dispensing fee, the member site must post such fees on all order pages.

Member sites must post a "Contact Us" page, which allows the consumer to dial a toll-free number, direct dial number, e-mail address and snail mail address.

Member sites which experience more than 500 customer service calls per month will be permitted to post a direct dial telephone number.

Member pharmacy sites must maintain all necessary licenses in force and agree to inform NAPAC immediately of any suspension of such license(s).

Member sites agree to answer any complaint within 48 hours of receipt of a complaint received from a consumer. All complaints (whether received by e-mail or snail mail) must be kept on file.

Canadian member sites agree that they will not ship narcotic or controlled substances into the United States.

Member sites agree to not misuse the NAPAC Seal. Member sites will not post the NAPAC Seal on any other site except the site that was originally approved by NAPAC. Member sites must post the NAPAC Seal on their home page. All member sites must link the NAPAC Seal directly to the NAPAC home page.
